Peace Dollar Market Heats Up
The silver Peace Dollar market has come alive this year as collectors “re-discover” this great coinage minted from 1921-1928 and then again for 1934-1935. The silver Peace Dollar has found renewed interest among buyers over the past few months, especially in higher grade certified condition above MS64. Partly driven by climbing silver prices, but more so by collector interest, sales of the 90% silver coin continue to increase.
This beautiful, widely collected series has long been one of the most under rated issues of 20th century coins but with the availability of premium quality, high grade Morgans beginning to diminish slightly, and prices continuing to climb ever higher, attention is turning to the Peace Dollar. NumisMedia Peace Dollar Fair Market Value Prices(opens in new window) shows where prices have gone in good to MS60 condition (you’ll need a membership to see prices MS61 to MS70).
While I expect to see demand stay high the availability of nice coins is going to be problematic. Prices, for the most part, are still reasonable but as the better BU high grade certified coins are snapped up prices will be driven higher. That can already be seen for the 1921, 1924-S, 1925-S and 1928 Peace Dollars. Search carefully, though, there are still good buys available.
The silver Peace Dollar is highly collectible, poised to take off in the market and is a great way to add to an existing collection or start a new one.
